22mm, Virginia State Militia Confederate Local Button, "W. Wildt & Son/Richmond Va" backmark.  The rare high dome local!  
If you want to add a nice and rare Confederate local button with lots of character from the state that experienced the most land battles of the Civil War and that was home to the longest enduring capital of the Confederacy, this would  be one to seriously consider. 
The die design of this button is very scarce.  Perhaps more importantly, it is rare to be marked with the manufacturer (as when they are encountered, most are simply marked with a star in a plain channel).  This one has the Richmond maker of W. Wildt and Son boldly stamped on the reverse.  I purchased it right and am happy to pass it along at this very reasonable price point which is discounted by half of what a marked one with the shank would be priced.  That is a very fair price point.
I pose the very practical question that my father in his wisdom has asked me before, "Son, do you collect buttons or shanks?"
