20mm, 1pc silver plated convex infantry button. "Best Plate/London" backmark. This one is uncleaned, loaded with silver, and has a really old tie tag running through the shank from a collection of well over a hundred years ago.... identified then as an Ordnance Officer's button from 1816. It is understood to have been intended for militia usage. It is a testimonial to the long appeal of these wonderful pieces of history, technology, and the die sinker's art!
I have kept this for a long while and it has special appeal, I hope it finds a "good home" where it is as appreciated.
