23mm, Confederate Infantry, manuscript "I" coat button. Excavated with "P. Tait" style pull-out shank. It shows some ground action, but has an overall pleasing look.  These shanks were an innovation that allowed buttons to be sewn to uniforms, packed and shipped overseas through the blockade with less denting.
This is a lot of button for $250.
