This is an unopened copy of Record of American Uniform and Historical Buttons: Bicentennial Edition, by Alphaeus S. Albert.  I took five of these in trade from Mike O'Donnell for an item that he wanted to make a gift of some handful of years ago and recently found two that got lost on a shelf.  My wife tells me that I should save one to replace my worn copy.

Alphaeus S. Albert’s Record of American Uniform and Historical Buttons has been the definitive reference guide for U.S. military button collectors since its publication in 1969 and its update in 1976. The book catalogs over 3,200 buttons, covering a wide range of categories including U.S. military buttons from the Colonial period through the post–Civil War era, as well as Confederate government, academies and schools, commemorative, political, militia, veterans organizations, federal departments, and more.

Albert’s unique coding system for identifying buttons remains an indispensable tool, widely used by collectors and dealers around the world. This book is an essential resource for anyone interested in the identification, classification, and history of American uniform buttons.
