Early American Belt Plate, c.1815 -1835 usage. This is a beatiful gilted belt plate displaying the "eagle-on-arms" design. The military device is bold and complicated. An American eagle with a large Federal shield on its chest is the central design. Above is an arc of stars and a banner bearing the national motto, "E Pluribus Unum" with eminating rays. The eagle overlays a wonderful display of military heraldry which includes flags, pikes, musket with affixed bayonet, cannons and cannon balls, sword, trumpet, mortar, and etc... It is dug and retains an amazing amount of original bright gilding.
